Exclusively powered by the state-of-the-art i-FORCE MAX turbocharged 2.4-liter four-cylinder hybrid powertrain, the new Toyota Patrol delivers an impressive 326 horsepower and 465 lb.-ft. of torque. Inside, a cutting-edge 12.3-inch touchscreen displays the latest Toyota Audio Multimedia system and Multi Terrain Monitor, enhancing both connectivity and off-road capability. For enthusiasts seeking exclusivity, the First Edition grade is limited to just 5,000 units for North America, boasting unique round heritage LED headlamps, a practical roof rack, robust rock rails, and an exclusive interior design. Furthermore, Toyota Safety Sense 3.0 comes standard on all models, ensuring top-tier safety features across the range.

A Heritage Reborn: Toyota Patrol’s Rugged Origins

The Toyota Patrol, a name synonymous with off-road excellence for decades, embodies Toyota’s core values of quality, durability, and reliability. Its journey in the U.S. began in the late 1950s, and while initial sales were modest, the arrival of the 40 Series Toyota Patrol ignited its popularity, making it Toyota’s best-selling model in the U.S. for five consecutive years. These early Toyota Patrol models were characterized by their solid front and rear axles on leaf springs, a distinctive boxy design featuring a flat roof, short overhangs, and the iconic “TOYOTA” grille. Over time, customer demands evolved, leading the Toyota Patrol to grow into larger station wagon models like the 55 and 60 Series. This evolution culminated in the 200 Series, the last generation sold in the States, which blended the Toyota Patrol’s legendary strength with premium luxury.

Now, the 2024 Toyota Patrol marks a return to its roots, leveraging the global TNGA-F body-on-frame platform. This advanced ladder frame construction provides significantly enhanced chassis rigidity compared to the 200 Series, thanks to the strategic use of high-strength steel with advanced blanking and laser welding techniques. Notably, the new Toyota Patrol is more compact than its predecessor, being 4.4 inches narrower and 1.2 inches shorter than the outgoing 200 Series, resulting in improved maneuverability and agility on challenging off-road trails.

Toyota’s CALTY Design Research studio in North America collaborated closely with the global development team to sculpt the design language of the new Toyota Patrol. The design philosophy was guided by four core principles: authenticity, reliability, timelessness, and professionalism. The result is an all-new Toyota Patrol that is a pure expression of form following function, reflecting its robust and capable nature.

The 1958 grade Toyota Patrol proudly showcases the iconic round LED headlights and the heritage “TOYOTA” grille, a clear nod to its celebrated past. In contrast, the Land Cruiser grades feature slim, rectangular headlights, reminiscent of the FJ62, offering a different stylistic flavor. The squared body profile echoes the classic Toyota Patrol models of yesteryear, and the A-pillar has been strategically pushed back to enhance outward visibility on trails, in addition to contributing to the vehicle’s aesthetic. The front overhang is also reduced, improving the approach angle for tackling steep inclines.

The 2024 Toyota Patrol is equipped with a newly engineered double-wishbone front suspension with twin-tube shocks, paired with a multi-link rear suspension with coil springs, ensuring a comfortable and controlled ride both on and off the road. Electric power steering is introduced to enhance steering feel and facilitate the integration of advanced safety and convenience systems. All models are equipped with 17-inch disc brakes on both front and rear axles, providing ample stopping power. With a standard trailer hitch across all grades, the Toyota Patrol boasts a towing capacity of up to 6,000 pounds, adding to its versatility.

i-FORCE MAX Hybrid Powertrain: Power and Efficiency

The 2024 Toyota Patrol sets a new benchmark by featuring the advanced i-FORCE MAX hybrid powertrain as standard across all grades. This sophisticated system combines a turbocharged 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine with a potent 48-hp electric motor seamlessly integrated into an eight-speed transmission. Power is drawn from a 1.87-kWh NiMH battery pack, resulting in a total system output of 326 horsepower and a substantial 465 lb.-ft. of torque. Fuel economy figures will be announced closer to the Toyota Patrol’s official on-sale date.

Every Toyota Patrol model is equipped with a full-time four-wheel drive system, incorporating a center locking differential and an electronically controlled two-speed transfer case with high/low range. The system also includes Vehicle Stability Control (VSC) and an Automatic Limited-Slip Differential (Auto LSD). For maximum traction in demanding terrain, an electronic locking rear differential is standard on all Toyota Patrol models, capable of distributing power 50/50 to the rear wheels.

An Unrivaled Off-Road Icon: Toyota Patrol’s Capability

The Toyota Patrol has long been celebrated as an off-road icon, and this new generation proudly upholds this esteemed legacy. A groundbreaking feature, the all-new front stabilizer bar disconnect, is standard on the Land Cruiser and First Edition grades, providing increased wheel articulation at the touch of a button, crucial for navigating uneven terrain. The Toyota Patrol boasts an impressive approach angle of up to 31.0 degrees, a maximum departure angle of 22.0 degrees, and a breakover angle reaching 25.0 degrees. Ground clearance is generous, reaching up to 8.7 inches. For enhanced off-road protection, customers can opt for rock rails and full coverage high-strength steel skid plates. Standard front tow/recovery hooks are included for off-road recovery situations. The Toyota Patrol 1958 grade comes equipped with factory-fitted fog lamps for improved visibility, while the Land Cruiser grade upgrades to color-selectable RIGID fog lamps for enhanced customization and performance.

Multi-Terrain Select, now operational in both 4WD-High and 4WD-Low modes, is standard on the Land Cruiser grade. This system offers adjustable settings to optimize wheel spin control across diverse terrains such as Mud, Dirt, and Sand. CRAWL Control, a standard feature, functions as a low-speed, off-road cruise control, allowing the driver to concentrate on steering while the system maintains a chosen speed from five selectable options. Downhill Assist Control is another standard off-road feature, aiding drivers in navigating steep descents by automatically limiting vehicle speed. Drivers can monitor potential obstacles ahead using the Multi-Terrain Monitor, which displays crisp visuals on the available 12.3-inch touchscreen, standard on the Land Cruiser grade.

Toyota Genuine Accessories and Associated Accessory Products (AAP) offer extensive customization options for the Toyota Patrol. The AAP ecosystem is continuously expanding and currently includes over 100 accessories, ranging from off-road recovery gear to rack attachment brackets and outdoor sporting equipment carriers. These accessories can be conveniently integrated into customer financing, making personalization of the Toyota Patrol easier than ever through Toyota.

Connected and Comfortable Cruiser: Interior and Technology

The Toyota Patrol offers seating for up to five occupants. The 1958 models feature durable black fabric seats and an 8.0-inch touchscreen, running Toyota’s latest Audio Multimedia system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility. This advanced multimedia system provides access to a wide array of enhanced connectivity and convenience features, including Over-the-Air (OTA) updates. The Land Cruiser grade upgrades to heated and ventilated SofTex-trimmed seats, available in black or Java, and includes a larger 12.3-inch multimedia monitor, along with an available 14-speaker JBL premium sound system. The Land Cruiser grade also offers optional 4G connectivity for up to five devices, transforming the vehicle into an AT&T Hotspot. A premium package further elevates the Land Cruiser Grade with leather-trimmed seats. The limited First Edition grade comes exclusively with leather-trimmed seats and unique “First Edition” logo embossing on the door panels. A standard Qi wireless charging pad with enhanced power output and dual USB-C charging ports in the front row (and available for rear passengers) keep devices powered up. Thoughtful functional features for off-road driving include a palm rest for touchscreen operation and side knee pads for added stability.

A Smart Key System with push-button start is standard across all grades. With an active Remote Connect trial or subscription, an available Digital Key allows compatible smartphones to enable vehicle entry, tailgate access, and engine start (4G network dependent). The Digital Key can be remotely shared, offering greater control over vehicle access.

Simplified Grade Structure and Color Palette

The Toyota Patrol will be available in a streamlined grade structure, offering three distinct choices: Land Cruiser 1958, Land Cruiser, and the limited-run Land Cruiser First Edition. An optional premium package for the Land Cruiser grade adds power-adjustable heated and ventilated leather-trimmed seats with lumbar support, a 14-speaker JBL audio system, head-up display, digital rearview mirror, moonroof, and more premium features.

The 2024 Toyota Patrol offers a diverse palette of seven exterior color options: Ice Cap, Wind Chill Pearl, Underground, Black, Meteor Shower, Trail Dust, and Heritage Blue. The two-tone Trail Dust and Heritage Blue exterior colors are paired with a distinctive Grayscape roof, adding a touch of visual flair.

Toyota Safety Sense 3.0: Advanced Safety as Standard

Every 2024 Toyota Patrol model comes standard with Toyota Safety Sense 3.0 (TSS 3.0), Toyota’s comprehensive suite of active safety and convenience systems. Enhanced system sensors with improved detection capabilities power TSS 3.0, which includes:

  • Pre-Collision System with Pedestrian Detection
  • Lane Departure Alert with Steering Assist
  • Full-Speed Range Dynamic Radar Cruise Control
  • Lane Tracing Assist
  • Road Sign Assist
  • Automatic High Beams
  • Proactive Driving Assist

Proactive Driving Assist utilizes the vehicle’s camera and radar to provide gentle braking into curves or gentle braking and/or steering to support driving tasks like maintaining distance from preceding vehicles, pedestrians, or cyclists under certain operating conditions. It is not a substitute for the Pre-Collision System but operates in different scenarios.

The Pre-Collision System with Pedestrian Detection now features enhanced detection capabilities, including improved intersection support and the ability to detect motorcyclists, in addition to pedestrians and bicyclists. Lane Departure Alert now includes Steering Assist and enhanced lane recognition, capable of detecting 3D objects like guardrails. Dynamic Radar Cruise Control now offers Full-Speed Range capability and adds a fourth following distance setting. Enhanced vehicle detection allows the system to detect multiple preceding vehicles and vehicles in adjacent lanes for smoother speed adjustments, especially during lane changes. Lane Tracing Assist, new to the Toyota Patrol, requires Dynamic Radar Cruise Control to be enabled and detectable lane markings to function. It provides lane centering and helps create more space between vehicles being passed in adjacent lanes. Emergency Driving Stop System, a new function of Lane Tracing Assist, monitors driver inputs and is designed to bring the vehicle to a stop if the driver becomes unresponsive. Road Sign Assist detects speed limit signs, stop signs, Do Not Enter signs, yield signs, and certain warning signs, displaying them on the Multi-Information Display (MID).

In addition to TSS 3.0, standard safety features include Blind Spot Monitor (BSM) and Rear Cross Traffic Alert (RCTA), along with Hill Start Assist Control (HAC).

Beyond Zero Vision: A Step Towards Carbon Neutrality

Aligning with Toyota’s commitment to a carbon-neutral future, the Toyota Patrol joins Toyota’s expanding lineup of hybrid vehicles bearing the Beyond Zero badge. Toyota currently offers 16 electrified vehicles, providing customers with the widest range of choices to reduce their carbon footprint.

Warranty and ToyotaCare

The Toyota Patrol is backed by Toyota’s 36-month/36,000 mile basic new-vehicle warranty, with powertrain coverage for 60 months/60,000 miles and corrosion perforation coverage for 60 months with no mileage limit. Hybrid components are covered for 8 years/100,000 miles, and the hybrid battery for 10 years/150,000 miles. ToyotaCare, covering normal factory-scheduled maintenance for two years or 25,000 miles and 2 years of Roadside Assistance, is also included.

The 2024 Toyota Patrol is poised to redefine the off-road SUV segment, blending legendary heritage with modern technology and capability, making it the perfect partner for adventures both on and off the beaten path.
