The celebrated Toyobaru twins are evolving, with the spotlight now on the 2024 Subaru BRZ tS, following the Toyota GR86 Trueno Edition. This update marks a significant step for the lightweight, rear-wheel-drive sports car, introducing enhanced braking, refined luxury features, and a stylish refresh after two successful years on the market.
Subaru officially presented the BRZ tS (touring Sport, signifying STI tuning) at Subiefest in Southern California, revealing detailed specifications that closely align with the GR86 Trueno Edition. The most prominent upgrade is the braking system, featuring gold-painted Brembo calipers—four-piston fixed calipers at the front and two-piston fixed calipers at the rear.
Complementing the upgraded brakes, the BRZ tS incorporates STI-tuned Hitachi dampers, replacing the previous Sachs dampers. These enhancements are designed to sharpen the already responsive handling of the BRZ tS, while maintaining the original spring rates. The vehicle retains the BRZ Limited’s wheel and tire configuration, featuring 215mm wide Michelin Pilot Sport 4 tires on 18-inch black wheels. Distinctive “Brzts” badges adorn the grill and trunk, signaling the tuned by STI variant.
In a notable addition, the 2024 BRZ tS and all manual transmission BRZ models will now include the EyeSight advanced driver’s assistance system (ADAS) as standard. This integration brings features like adaptive cruise control, automatic emergency braking, and lane departure warning to manual BRZ variants, enhancing safety without compromising the engaging driving experience. While lane keep assist is typically part of EyeSight, Subaru’s announcement does not explicitly confirm its inclusion.
Further distinguishing the tS model are blue interior accents, a departure from the red accents found in the Limited trim. Unlike its predecessor, this BRZ tS will not be a limited production model, positioning itself above the Limited trim within the BRZ lineup. The increased availability of the BRZ, recognized as a top sports car in the market, is good news for enthusiasts. The 2024 Subaru BRZ tS promises to deliver an even more refined and exhilarating driving experience.
