The Bentley Black Student-Athlete Coalition (BBSAC) has emerged as a vital force within the Bentley University athletics community. This organization serves as a powerful platform, amplifying Black voices and championing the experiences of Black student-athletes both on and off the field. With a focus on creating a supportive and inclusive environment, the BBSAC is dedicated to enriching the collegiate journey for Black athletes, fostering a sense of belonging and celebrating Black culture within the university setting. Recognizing the significant influence student-athletes hold, particularly Black athletes, the coalition aims to leverage this position to raise awareness and drive positive change within the broader Black community.
Mission & Purpose: Forging a Stronger Voice
At its core, the BBSAC’s mission is to champion the support, recognition, and active engagement of Black student-athletes at Bentley University. This proactive approach is designed to cultivate a formidable voice on campus, ensuring Black athletes have meaningful input in decisions that affect their student-athlete experience. Through a range of enriching programs and initiatives, including general meetings, leadership development, mentorship opportunities, and community service projects, the BBSAC strives to educate both its members and the wider Bentley University community. This educational focus is intended to foster awareness, spark proactive engagement, and ultimately ignite positive change within their communities. The operational framework of the BBSAC is guided by a set of bylaws, providing clear guidelines for policies and procedures. These policies, developed by the BBSAC team and approved by the Advisor, ensure the organization functions effectively and ethically. Every member of the BBSAC receives a copy of these bylaws during orientation, underscoring the commitment to transparency and accountability. The Executive Board of the BBSAC is held to the highest standards of personal and professional conduct, expected to demonstrate sound judgment, diplomacy, and courtesy in all interactions with committee members, the broader membership, university staff, and the public.
