2025 Porsche 911 Carrera T: The Purist’s Sports Car Returns, Now as a Cabriolet

Porsche has announced the return of the enthusiast-focused 911 Carrera T for the 2025 model year. Building on the popular formula of a lightweight, performance-oriented 911, the latest Carrera T arrives not only as a coupe but, for the first time, also as a cabriolet. This new iteration emphasizes driving pleasure with a standard manual six-speed transmission, a specially tuned chassis, and a focus on weight reduction, making it the lightest 911 Carrera variant available.

Potent Powertrain and Thrilling Performance

Under the hood, the 2025 911 Carrera T retains the same potent 3.0-liter twin-turbo boxer engine found in the standard Carrera. This powerplant delivers 388 horsepower and 331 lb.-ft. of torque, providing ample thrust for exhilarating acceleration. The coupe sprints from 0 to 60 mph in just 4.3 seconds, while the cabriolet version accomplishes this feat in a mere 4.5 seconds. Reaching a top track speed of 183 mph for the Coupe and 182 mph for the Cabriolet, the 2025 Porsche 911 Carrera T offers serious performance credentials.

A defining feature of the Carrera T is its standard six-speed manual transmission, sending power to the rear wheels. This gearbox utilizes the first six ratios of the previous seven-speed manual found in the Type 992.1 Carrera models, optimized for engaging driving dynamics. A unique touch for the Carrera T is the special shifter, topped with an open-pore, laminated walnut handle, adding a touch of classic Porsche elegance and tactile satisfaction to every gear change.

For drivers seeking seamless downshifts, the Carrera T comes equipped with a standard auto-blip feature. This system automatically rev-matches the engine speed to the selected gear, ensuring smooth transitions. For purists who prefer complete control, this feature can be manually disabled. The Sport Chrono package, also standard on the Carrera T, enhances the driving experience further. It includes a mode switch integrated into the GT Sport steering wheel, offering quick access to Normal, Sport, Sport Plus, and Wet driving modes. Additional features within the Sport Chrono package include the Porsche Track Precision app and a tire temperature display in the instrument cluster. Rounding out the performance enhancements is a standard Sport Exhaust system, coupled with reduced sound deadening, creating a more immersive and emotionally resonant auditory experience.

Sport-Focused Chassis for Agile Handling

The 2025 Porsche 911 Carrera T distinguishes itself with a suite of chassis upgrades designed to deliver exceptional handling and driver engagement on winding roads. Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM) is standard, lowering the ride height by 10 millimeters compared to the standard 911 Carrera. The PASM dampers are specifically tuned to complement the Carrera T’s sporty character, providing a balance of control and compliance. The braking system is also enhanced, featuring larger 350 mm brake discs both front and rear (+20 mm compared to the previous generation) and utilizing six-piston fixed calipers on the front axle, an upgrade from the four-piston calipers of its predecessor.

A significant enhancement for the 2025 Carrera T is the inclusion of standard rear-axle steering. This system improves agility at lower speeds and stability at higher speeds, enhancing overall maneuverability. The steering ratio is also quicker compared to the standard 911 Carrera, contributing to a more direct and responsive feel. Revised front and rear anti-roll bars further sharpen handling, making the car more agile and stable during spirited driving. Porsche Torque Vectoring (PTV), which uses a mechanical rear differential lock and targeted brake inputs to optimize power delivery during cornering, is also standard equipment. Carrera T-specific aerodynamic adjustments further refine the car’s balance and handling prowess.

Standard Carrera S alloy wheels, staggered in 20-inch diameter at the front and 21-inch at the rear, are another key component of the Carrera T’s performance-oriented chassis. These wheels are wrapped in 245/35 ZR20 front tires and 305/30 ZR21 rear tires, providing substantial grip and contributing to the car’s confident handling.

Lightweight Construction: A Purist Philosophy

The 2025 911 Carrera T embodies a purist approach to sports car design, drawing inspiration from the original 911 T of the late 1960s and early 1970s. Like its historical predecessor, the Carrera T prioritizes driving enjoyment through weight reduction and a focus on essential performance features. This philosophy is evident in the use of lightweight glass, reduced sound deadening materials, and the standard manual transmission, all contributing to a lower curb weight compared to the standard 911 Carrera.

For those seeking even greater weight savings and a more focused driving experience, optional carbon fiber reinforced plastic (CFRP) bucket seats are available. These seats offer significant weight reduction and enhanced lateral support, further amplifying the Carrera T’s sporty character.

Distinctive Exterior and Interior Design

The 2025 Carrera T is visually distinguished from other 911 models through unique exterior and interior design elements. Vanadium Grey Metallic accents are applied to the sideview mirror covers, wheels, model designation decals on the doors and rear badge, as well as the Sport Exhaust tailpipes finished in black stainless steel. Adding another touch of exclusivity, the rear side windows feature special decals showcasing the manual shift pattern. The wheels feature a distinctive two-tone finish, with a partially machined, high-gloss exterior face. The front spoiler lip, adopted from the 911 Carrera GTS models, further enhances the car’s sporty appearance.

Porsche offers a wide palette of 12 paint colors for the 2025 Carrera T, complementing the Vanadium Grey accents. These range from classic solid colors like black and white to more vibrant metallic options such as Cartagena Yellow Metallic, Shade Green Metallic, and Chalk. An optional Carrera T exterior package provides further customization, featuring Gentian Blue accents on the wheels, rear model designation, intake slat inlays, door graphics, and a hood stripe with a Carrera T logo. This package also includes black mirror shells as an alternative to the standard Vanadium Grey.

Inside, the standard interior configuration features Vanadium Grey accents on the dashboard and center console. Black anodized aluminum door panel trims, a dashboard shift pattern logo on the passenger side, and a unique “MT” badge in front of the shift lever further distinguish the Carrera T’s cabin. Standard equipment includes black, four-way power-adjustable heated Sport Seats Plus and a heated, leather-wrapped GT Sport steering wheel. Leather interior options are available as upgrades, while the standard seats feature Sport-Tex centers with a Black plaid pattern, decorative black stitching, and embroidered black “911” logos. Optional 18-way Sport Seats Plus and fixed-back CFRP Full Bucket seats are also available. While the coupe comes standard as a two-seater, rear seats are standard in the Cabriolet model and can be optionally added to the coupe at no extra cost.

A special 911 Carrera T interior package offers Gentian Blue thread for the decorative stitching, seat belts, center console and dashboard inserts, headrest “911” logos, and trim rings in the instrument cluster and Sport Chrono clock. The black plaid seat centers also gain Gentian Blue accents with this package. More luxurious interior upgrades, such as a Sport-Tex Plaid interior package with extended leather or a full leather interior, are also available at additional cost.
